Winners Announced



This bi-annual event is known as ‘The Wildlife Oscars’. Films were selected from over 800 entries from 23 countries by a prestigious jury including: Caroline Brett, Natalie Cash, Liesl Clark, David Elisco and Harvey Locke. The jury moderator was Sally Vaughn. Winners of the International Festival Film Competition of particular interest to British Cinematographer Magazine web-site visitors include :

In the Content categories the Best Theatrical Programme sponsored by Off the Fence Productions was won by ‘THE LAST LIONS’ by Wildlife Films and National Geographic. Derek and Beverley Joubert collected 3 awards during the evening. Derek was Writer/Director. The others awards were for Best Editing (Susan Scott & Candice Odgers, Editors) and Best Original Music Score (Alex Wurman, Composer)

In the Craft categories the Best Cinematography Award sponsored by FujiFilm Optical Devices was won by ‘LIFE: CHALLENGES OF LIFE’ by BBC Natural History Unit, Discovery Channel, Open University, SKAI & BBC Worldwide. The camera team on this Episode included Rod Clarke, Kevin Flay, Alastair MacEwen, Peter Nearhos, Simon Werry, and David Wright.

There were 19 main camerapersons who originated the 11 episodes of ‘Life’. Previously ‘the cinematography team’ on this particular episode won the 2010 Emmy for ‘Outstanding Cinematography for Nonfiction Programming’.
